adult ministries

We have several opportunities to get more involved at MFMC by joining a small group or one of our service ministries.

R.E.A.C.H. Ministry

REACH is an acronym for Reaching Everyone As Christ’s Hands. We are a group of women with hearts for mission work both locally and afar. Some of our many missions include supporting the homeless, schools, students, teachers, healthcare workers, non-profits, and families in need. We do fundraisers throughout the year to help support these missions. Email us with the contact form at the bottom of the page to see how you can get involved.

Smiles, kind words, and hard work are not the only things volunteers will bring to each site however, as each homeowner will receive a Bible as a memento of the good work they have received.

Work sites are spread across Baldwin, Putnam, Wilkinson and Hancock counties and churches in the surrounding counties will open their doors each day to feed the hungry, weary volunteers for lunch. Volunteers attend worship Wednesday through Saturday nights and River of Life wraps up the same way it does every year—with a worship service Sunday morning at the church followed by goodbyes from friends old and new.

River of Life ministry completes its mission with the support of First United Methodist Church members along with support of our staff and pastor. You can get in touch with us at the bottom of this page for more information.

United women of faith

The United Women of Faith is a group of women comprised of all ages dedicated to being the hands and feet of Jesus doing God's work. We mostly do local missions in our community and support all works of the United Women of Faith Southeastern District. We are actively involved in raising money for local church programs and statewide/national missions for the Methodist Church. We are active in the Reading Program; correspondence with our missionaries; tending to our homebound through prayers, visits, and gifts. We encourage all women to be more spiritually involved with each other for us to strengthen ourselves in our spiritual journey. We invite all women to join us the the fourth Tuesday of each month at 10am in the Emmaus Sunday School room.

alcoholics anonymous & al-anon

This is a ministry to those in our community who suffer from the ravages of addiction.

Alcoholics Anonymous is an international fellowship of men and women who have had a drinking problem. It is nonprofessional, self-supporting, multiracial, apolitical, and available almost everywhere. There are no age or education requirements. Membership is open to anyone who wants to do something about his or her drinking problem.

AA meets:

Monday, Wednesday, Friday at noon

Tuesday at 5:30pm

Thursday at 10:00am and 5:30pm

Saturday at 8:30am and 10:00am

First Friday Speakers at 5:30pm

Al-Anon Family Groups meet in over 130 countries to help families and friends of problem drinkers recover from the impacts of a loved one’s drinking. Members help each other by practicing the Twelve Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous themselves, by welcoming and giving comfort to families of alcoholics, and by giving understanding and encouragement to the alcoholic.

Al-Anon meets Fridays at noon only

For over 20 years River of Life has been a ministry at MFMC serving those in need in Baldwin and surrounding counties. Milledgeville First Methodist Church usually hosts about 300 River of Life volunteers (200 youth, 100 adults) Wednesday through Sunday. River of Life traditionally falls the weekend after the Fourth of July.  Just three days on the work site building a wheelchair ramp, painting the exterior of a home, or doing some yard work is all it takes to make a significant impact on the life of someone who just needs a little help. Youth groups from different churches across the state will arrive Wednesday evening before going out to sites Thursday morning with hammers, paintbrushes and lawn care equipment in hand. More than 25 work sites will be completed. A few rising sixth grade students will also get their feet wet participating in Little River.
